Does the Wii Really Help

I have had the Nintendo Wii for about 2 years now. I have had the Wii Fit for almost a year. I have used it off and on, and I will admit that it is pretty fun. I just picked up the Wii Fit Plus and finally used it for the first time. Now, nobody can deny that the Wii is fun, and the Wii Fit games do get your heart rate up. But, I do wonder if I used the Wii Fit everyday, would it really be effective for me. I just finished a half hour workout and I am sweating, but my question is, is it good enough for a guy my size. If I substituted using the Wii for an hour a day instead of going to the gym, would I do myself any good?
Now, I have used the Wii Fit several times, and I will say that if I don’t go to the gym or use p90x, then it is a good substitute. But to give up a hard core workout for the Wii Fit is crazy. Once again, I will say that it is fun. But it is not the best workout. With that said, if you are just starting out, getting back in shape, or like me and too lazy to drive to the gym, use the Wii Fit.
